Not really anymore difficult than doing the tensioner. Easy in fact. I have done it with the engine mount in place and out. Out of course gives mroe room but it can be doen with the mount in place.

Big thing to remember when tightening the idler pulley bolt is to not go gorilla tight on the bolt. If you do the stub shaft from the timing chain cover will break.

As long as you are at I would change the idler pulley with a good name brand one. I had one go and it took the stub shaft with it. Luckly there were still threads in the block and I made a spacer for it, however that pulley bearing just went after a year, no name brand purchased from A. Z.

Default Idler Pulley Replacement

I am trying to replace a idler pulley on my 94 SC1 and i am having problems putting the bolt in the new pulley. I heard that you have to take off the passenger side motor mount and jack up the motor and put it on this way. I was just wondering how to jack up the motor, I've never had to jack up the motor so i am wondering how to do it i don't want to mess anything up.. and ideas??
