yeah my 97 sl2 was doing the same thing one day about 8 times. i drive up and downshift a few times and let off the gas put in the clutch get ready to stop and idle jumps to 1500 rpms or so. i hit the gas and it drops back down. it did that alot on this one day and all on one drive. next time i drove it it didnt do that. my ford escort did the same thing before too, and my reason of belief would be a sticking throttle. clean the throttle body and oil the spring and moving components. i havent done that yet to either car, well i cleaned the inside of the throttle body on my escort, since problem hasnt persisted but im still going to.
