Default Ignition Help

I tried to start my car this morning and it sounded really weak. It started last night when i was going home from school. I started and it sounded weak so i turned it off and tried again. This time when i turned the headlights on, the lights came on, but the interior lights (Gauge Cluster lights) didn't come on. Whats up with my car? Also i have a 2000 SL1, with MOS pullies, but i don't think that should be the problem.

check your battery, i'm not sure what type you have but check the fluid level in it to see if it's full. (depending on the type of battery) the pullies wouldn't normally cause that. if the battery is bad then it won't hold a charge from the alternator. also check the battery connections. if there corroded(SP?) then it won't charge right and will start weak.

Also note:

An alternator requires at least 10.5 volts from the battery in order to generate a charge, which in turn recharges the battery.

if your battery is low or is no longer holding a charge...it is possible that your alternator is no longer capable of charging the battery properly.

Be sure to check the voltage at your battery and also check how much drop it has when starting. The voltage at the battery when running should be around 13.5 to 14 volts.
