Default installing remote starter and power door locks question

I have a '99 SL1, manual, 4 door, regular key entry.
I want to be able to install a remote car stater and also power locks on the doors. Has anyone out there done such a thing, and would you recommend for, or against? Is it difficult? I just called a Saturn dealer and they recommend 'not' doing the starter (too many electrical issues), and that the power door locks are too expensive. Any ideas from anyone?
Thanks

I would recommend AGAINST putting a remote starter in a manual car...but if you insist...autotoys4everyone.com sell a system specifically designed for manual transaxle cars that will also work factory PDL. They throw in a vehicle specific wiring diagram for free as well and have decent prices, high quality and great tech support. Their systems utilize a specific shut down proceedure that make it nearly impossible to engage the remote starter with the car in gear. (I know you swear you'd never do that, but believe me you WILL eventually and the results could be disasterous and maybe even fatal to someone nearby)

Default POWER

i am in the process of installing power windows and locks in my 97 sl2. what i did was this: i had a wrecked sl2 with all the power options. i took all four doors off (and pretty much gutted the whole car) once i had everything out i simply followed the wires from where they connect at the door through the car and removed them along with the inside fuse and relay center (leaving the wires for the doors attatched) i had to cut the wires near the b pillar to get them through the opening then i will splice them after putting them through the pillars in my car. i think i will have to switch fuse boxes in order to have the proper connections. then i'll take my doors off and put the ones with all the power motors and stuff on and just switch off the outside panels. it's not really that hard as long as you mark all the wires to make sure they get back to where they should be. mostly it's just tedious. if you have any questions just hit me back and i'll let you know how the swap goes.

Yes...I'd like to know if it all worked out for you.
My dilemma is that I don't have a 'wreck' to swap doors with. I'll be doing this from scratch. The remote starter is specifically for manual transmissions, and the power door locks is a kit to be installed step by step. Both are new items. Not purchased yet.
Would the instructions be difficult to follow? Never done anything like this before. How are Saturn SL1 doors removed best to get into them? Am I stupid in even thinking of attempting this? (ok...don't answer that one....lol).
I like to tinker....and summer is coming 'FINALLY!'....thought it'll make a great warm weather project.
Thanks.
