Default JOEY OR SOMEONE, PCM QUESTION

i have heard that if you swap a PCM from an auto into a manual it will cancel the rev limiter. is this so? and if so i have a wrecked 97 sl2 auto that i would like to take the PCM out of and put it in my running 97 sl2 manual but i don't know where it is. what should i look out for? any special tools needed? can i put it in myself or should i take it somewhere? btw i appreciate all the help i have gotten from you guys. you are all a big help.

yes it will run it and lsoe the limiter, BUT so you know, anytime you do a used pcm swap the car might run funky for a few miles, this is normal as the pcm resets itself from the feedback from the sensors.
but yes this is a direct swap.
now, in 98 things got funky, you cannot swap a 98 pcm auto into a 98 5 speed spot, in 98 if you do so the fuel gauge wont work! youd THINK it would be the digital odometer but no, they have the wiring to the fuel guage diffrent in 98 then we tried a 97, no dice, it took a 96 twin cam to run the 98 single cam car and lose the rev limiter.
look under your dash by the pedals, look up and youll see the pcms 3 plugs there, whoops, i mean two since your allready 5 speed, un hook them, then there one ten mm bolt on top ( i remove the dash for easy access to this bolt) and bam itll drop right out into your hands, reverse the procedure to put the new one in.

Joey,

As you are aware (since I bought everything from you), I am having a auto to manual swap done and am retaining the PCM from the auto. If I were to put in the PCM from a 5-speed, would the plugs be able to fit, just with the end of the harness used to connect to the auto tranny unplugged, or would I have to replace the whole harness to go with the manual tranny's PCM? The reason I ask is that MSD does not seem to have gotten their DIS-2 ignition working on the OBD-II saturns, and since other people occasionally drive my car, I am a bit worried about the no rev-limiter thing.

yes you can plug an auto pcm right in, we dont include them in the kit but they are available at an extra charge, i may have told you this.
your old harness the plug for the auto trans at both ends will hang harmlessly in its places, the other two plugs will plug right in to the 5 speed pcm.
now, who and why would you let someone drive your care that would take it up over 7k rpms? lol
if you want to upgrade to a 5 speed pcm drop me a line, thanks.

No problem. My sister will be learning to drive stick in my car, and I've got this girl that likes running my car sometimes at the track, but she has a long record of blowing the shift to second in her own car

i dont let people drive my cars unless its like my grandmother , its not worth oh, im sorry, id didnt mean to blow your diffrential up! "
dont forgot, the ONLY thing that is not covered by warranty is the diff pin which you have been told, so, 6 months from now if that diff pin snaps remeber those words, so im not the bad guy. those warranty instructions are told or written to EVERY tranny customer we sell one to. diff pins fail for one reason ad one reason only, ok two if you count getting stuck in the snow, but the main reason is abuse, if you get stuck in the snow you CAN rock it, but GENTLY, if you spin the wheels hard its the same as if you were on pavement, you will blow the diff pin.
