Key fob question Ok, I have a 99 sl2 that I just bought used. It came with keyless entry. Now my parents have a 2003 Vue and a 2001 Silverado which has the same key fob (well it looks the same). For some reason theirs work much better than mine. They work the first time and from much further away, while I have to be pretty close to the car and sometimes I have to hit it a couple of times, and usually have to hit it 4 time (two sets of two) to get all the doors to unlock. Now my question is: is this just because mine is an older outdated model and the new ones work better or might I bennefit from changing the battery or something else? Im hesitant to tag it as a problem with the battery because it does work when Im close to tha car.
Also, I only got one fob when I bought the car and I was thinking about getting a second one. I see them on ebay for pretty cheap, has anyone tired to get a used one? Does anyone know if any one will work (of that model) or do I have to get one with matching numbers? |
