Default L300 Oil Change Info.

Howdy,
Am preparing to change the oil in my '04 L300 for the first time. Would like to know how much oil w/filter and how difficult. Appreciate your help.

Welcome to the Board. Not real difficult. T-45 for the drain plug. I believe a 15/16 (?) wrench/socket for the oil filter cap. Should be about 5 quarts of oil. We use liters up here and it is 4.7 liters. Check your owners manual for sure.

I don't know about the L300 with the V6, but on the L200 the oil filter is a pain in the ass to get at without a special socket. You can try Channel Locks or a crowfoot, they work sometimes.

Matco makes the socket for the GM cartridge oil filters.

Saturn's engine would take 5w30 oil, IIRC. In cold climates, use of 0w30 can be used in place of 5w30.
I recomend buying Mobil 1 synthetic, or Castrol Syntec.
