Default Low RPM Vibration from engine 97 SL2

Well, looks like I have the over heating problem, etc., solved. But the car has a low frequency vibration at idle and at low RPMs. Once the RPMs are up to about 1500-1700, the vibration goes away and its smooth. Could this be bad motor/tranny mounts? Any ideas? Thanks.

haha how many thousands of times has this been asked? really now, come on people..

check the motor mounts, plus apparently the 97's have terrible vibration problems by themselves stocked, i know mine is a loud mutha-trucka vibration wise when it's cold, and even my window cranks vibrate because the panels don't sit flush against the door after i installed my speakers..

first things first: locate source of vibration, engine bay, door panels, outside door skins, all that stuff that has nuts or bolts tighten down, even the clips that hold the plastic fenders to the engine bay, glue them down if you have to.

butttt i need new motor mounts too, so if u find someplace with a good price, lemme know and i'll get em shipped out here

Default Vibration

Well, sorry if I asked the wrong question. I just wondered. The engine seems perfectly at ease, but the vibration is diffinitely coming from the engine bay. It is felt in the steering wheel and the "seat of the pants". Just wondered if the motor mounts were suspect and others had found this to be true; maybe the timing chain is the culprit. Just asking.

See how the rubber is on the torque axis mount (the one by the valve cover), and then check the dogbone by the crank pulley and the one under the batter.

After putting in stock dogbones, my '97 is butter smooth and has 0 vibration period. Much much user-freindly to drive.

i second that, new dogbones (80 bux and about 2 hours of effort) will take care of the vibrations that creep in after your car gets up there in miles.
