Default My solution to buying overpriced wheels.

As many of you probabally know the our Saturns use the bolt pattern 114.3 across the bored. My car came stock with 14"(sad) wheels and I've priced out new wheels at Belle(belletire.com) and at Discount Tire(discounttire.com) and have found that you can really push out a lot of cash on replacing your rims. My solution was finding another car that uses the same pattern but has bigger stock tires. One I have found that I am personally going to pursue is the 1999 Nissan Maxima SE which comes stock with 16" rims that arent all that bad looking. Its an inexpensive way to purchase new wheels, but you still have to replace the tires. If anyone here still doesnt know what im talking about, call your local junkyards and discount auto wreck dealers. They normally have a wide variety of parts and I don't see this one being any more difficult than the next. If anyone else is pursuing this methodology I have provided a list of the 114.3 bolt pattern vehicles below. Happy bargain hunting.

Same here. My '93 SL had the 14" steel wheels, but I bought a set of used 15" SL2 alloys for it last year. I think it looks much better than the 14's.....especially with the lowered springs.

4 x 100mm is the internationally accepted standard for referring to the bolt circle on our wheels. (others vehicles might use something like 5 x 4.5" or 8 x 6" or whatever) If someone's come up with another system they think works better, I will personally slap the sh*t out of them. I'm still trying to deal with the metric system, and I've had that all my life.

imagine how the US feels tryin to stick us wit standard and metric....BTW do canadien cars have sockets that are 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch, etc...i know saturns themselves are measured in MM, but what about other models?!?!?!

Yeah, I hear ya. We've got the same blend of the two systems here as well, and it does lead to some confusion. As far as measuring things for something like.....carpentry, 99% of people here still use standard measurement units. Pretty much the only time we'll use metric is when we're trying to find the right socket, or for speed or distance. EG: I know that I weigh around 200lbs, and that I'm 6 feet tall. I have absolutely no idea what I weigh in kilograms, or how tall I am in centimeters.

I really can't stand fuel usage measurements in metric. Miles per gallon makes a lot more sense to me than liters per 100kms. Then again, standard gallons are bigger than American gallons.....anyway...

Most cars made anywhere in the past 10 years at least have been mostly metric. Stuff that's actually been produced in Canada for around 30 years now has had more metric content than their American counterparts.

As far as I can tell, Saturns are almost entirely metric. The thing is that you can usually interchange a metric or an imperial/standard socket for one that's really close anyway.
