Default My stereo won't turn off -- it's draining my battery

When I park the car and turn off the lights, the lights on the stereo go on.. even if the stereo is turned off and even if the key is not in the ignition. I can't get it to turn off.

It's draining my battery.

Anyone else seen this problem? Is my car posessed?

Janet

it's currently wired straight to the battery. You have to find the proper wire that is on only when the ignition is turned on.

If you're using the stock wiring harness, you may have a bad ground, or improper wirings. If worse comes to worse, find the power wire and add a switch there. It'll be a Pain in the butt every time you get in and out, but it'll help prolong the life of your battery.

dont put a switch on a head unit, it could cause the fuse to bust or possibly short out the radio over time. just find the ignision wire and tap it in.

Welcome to the Board.

Model and year of the car?
Aftermarket stereo or factory?
Any work done on the car just before this started happening?
