Default New to the board and need help.

Hey guys, I am now a owner of a 1995 SC2 DOHC.
I have a lot of questions...

Its a 1.9 right?
How many qts of oil do i need? what kind do i use?
What kind of fuel filter, plugs, wires, rotor, and disturbtor cap would you recommand? Dealer? Pepboys? Autozone?
Are there any recalls on the 1995 SC2 DOHC?
Are there any problems with the 1995 SC2 DOHC that i should know about?
Where is the best place to buy Saturn OEM products?
I have a headlight out. what size bulb is it?

Sorry guys, im a girl and i dont know to much. So please help

Thanks,

Lizzy

Default SOME HELP

1.9 l twin cam, sc2 is twin sc1 is single over head cam, i recommend using a little more than 4 qts possibly 4.5 qts is sufficient-saturns are known for sucking oil like evian. depending on the application you want (racing, stock, etc) you can get anything from cheapo autozone plugs, filters, DONT MESS WITH THE WIRES UNLESS YOU GET STOCK ONES!!! you will not notice a difference with aftermarket wires-you can have my underdrive pulley too if you want-i didnt notice anything from that either. Find a k&n drop in filter (looks like stock air filter but bears the K&N name) some nice bosche plugs would be nice too. The entire car was recalled lol :P just joking. The dealers will always charge a lot for replacement parts and to change the oil, except i hear you can get oil changed for free after 100,000?????? Sometimes there are parts that ONLY the dealer will have though. For the bulb, open your hood, put up the hood holder thing, look and examine what bulb it will be(there is one for the brights/drl, and one for the regular headlight) twist carefully to remove bulb bracket while pushing in the tab. i think they are easy to remove from there.. installation requires you to not touch the bulbs glass part as your finger oils will possibly cause the bulb to explode. Use a tissue or wear a glove when installing the new bulb. I hope that helped, let me know if you need more 411 - Z3R00N3

10w30 or 5w30 are both fine to use in saturn. If your winter temperature go blow freezing point, use 5w30.

What OEM parts are you looking for?
OEM parts are usually more expensive than aftermarket, but they do last longer. *most dealer prices are the same across the nation*

Hi/Lo beams is Sealed Beam 2E1
For brake rotors, do NOT use OEM rotors as they tend to warped FAST.

I use castrol oil 5w30 or 10w30, cheap chinese wearever rotors, NGK V-Power spark plugs, Bosch 7mm wires, and autozone fuel filter.
They are no disturbtor cap in saturn.

PM, AIM, or E-mail me if you have more questions.

PS, you seem like you know quite a lot about cars, give yourself more credit!!!

I go to Auto Zone cuz the guys know there crap and are always helpful and have actually come out to help me with stuff for free.

I'm changing my oil next month and using 10w30 Mobil 1 (that might be over kill, but if you can afford it, use it).

I use denso copper plugs with oem wires (for now).

I want a dohc

PM me or talk on AIM if you got questions.

How many miles on your car?

Not true. Well i dont know for Saturns but... My friend with a MR2 Turbo bought his wires from a dealer in Texas online for 75.00 yet the local dealership sells them for 110-120 or so.

I paid $11 for OEM replacment plugs.

I recommend Restore Oil Treatment, it really works and you should probably get some injector cleaner too.

There are 2 coil packs, just look at where the plug wires go,

I use 10W30 in the summer/spring/fall and 5W30 in the winter (I live in new england). I always use Valvoline Max Life oil exclusively and it does work wonders.

But I would be ok with 10w30 as long as the temp stays above like -20 right? Cuz I can't remember when it's ever been that low anyways....
