| Oil in #1 Plug Hole hey, im new here and just looking for alittle help with my g/f's '97 Saturn SC2 with the 16-valve dohc.... car just hit 60k today so i decided to change her plugs, but when i pulled the first one out it was dripping with oil... the rest of the plugs were fine but this one was drenched in oil. what all could it be? o-ring, valve cover gasket? ive never worked on this engine before, what should i look to replace or check? its also doesnt start sometimes and i feel that this might be the problem...any ideas?

| Valve cover gasket. My #4 does the same thing and it's pretty common. Just a simple change of gaskets. This won't cause your hard start issue.
The no start happens when it's been ran then sits for 30 minutes to an hour, right? You try to start it but it won't so you stop trying, then try again and it starts? Yes, that happens too. It has something to do with the fuel system. If you turn the key on and wait about 5 seconds before cranking it, it will start (if this is your problem). I hear it's normal, mine does it too.

| ok great thanks, ill go pick one up at the local stealership... ya that hard start thing gets pretty annoying, i told her to turn the key to accessory and wait alittle for the fuel pump to prime the fuel system and it seems to take care of the problem for the most part, but it still does it even tho she waits. there isnt a fix for it? maybe clogged fuel filter or injectors?

| You can try a new fuel filter (about $50 for the kit from the dealer), but it will prolly still happen. The dealer is the best place for them because it comes with everything and it's a good filter. Make sure she is turning it all the way to ignition on, not just accessory because the pump won't pump unless the key is in ignition or "run" mode.
