P0341 engine code facts How many people have started their cars on say a cold or damp day and got a check engine light as soon as it starts? Typically I have found its going to be a P0341, cam sensor out of range or something like that. Its also wonderful for those who dont know their cars exactly and come to find there is no cam sensor. There is an ignition module below the coils, that pretty much detects a misfire and sets the code. I do believe it follows the 1/4 coil. To fix the problem you either have to replace the spark plugs, wires, or coil(s). If all is new, then maybe something is a bad product. If its original equipment or very good aftermarket, like msd not accel, then comes the fun part. In order to keep the light from coming on, you need to pinch the terminal on the inside of the spark plug boot so that it touches at least one side of the thinnest part of the spark plug(part below the ball). Next is to check the resistance of each wire and plug. The longest wire should have the most resistance, if not you have bad wires. Now check resistance of the plugs, and the plug with the lowest resistance stick it with the highest resistant wire(should be number 1 wire on our cars). So far thats the only way to prevent the code, but it still could come on even after all the work. From what Im told, the Saturn pcm is very strict on everything working properly so thats why the code gets set normally on a cold and/or damp day where it is likely to find a small misfire at start up do to moisture. |
