P1406 code on SL2

Does anybody know what a P1406 code means?
I've replaced plugs, wires, and one coil.
I get an occasional bout of engine running rough, but not constant.
This is on a '96 SL2.

where are you finding that it's throwing that code from?

That is the code for the EGR, you may just need to clean it. Do a search on the board here for EGR cleaning and you will find out how to clean it. If that does not help you will need to replace it.

My local Autozone has the diagnostics for reading out the codes. They gave me the number, but it isn't one that is described in their documentation or in mine.
I'll try the search on EGR cleaning and give that a shot.
