Default PCM SWAP. NO REV LIMITS?

i have heard that if you swap a PCM from an auto into a manual it will cancel the rev limiter. is this so? and if so i have a wrecked 97 sl2 auto that i would like to take the PCM out of and put it in my running 97 sl2 manual but i don't know where it is. what should i look out for? any special tools needed? can i put it in myself or should i take it somewhere? btw i appreciate all the help i have gotten from you guys. you are all a big help.
