Default PCV vacuum line

Man this thing is so messed up. I took the pcv out to clean it (thinking it was the egr, spare me the laughs) and the next day the vacuum line colapsed on itself and was making a horrible whistling noise. Ok so I buy new vacuum line.....one week later the SES light goes on and a few miles later its making the noise again. Obviously the pcv is messed up and not opening.....I don't know how I could have done that just wiping it off...

What do you guys think? Or is the ses light on for a totally different reason?

A couple more questions:

#1 Could it be causing the hesitation that I hate so much?
#2 Does a new one come with that rubber gasket thing?
#3 How do I get that gasket out?
#4 What does the PCV do?

I have never heard of the hose for the PCV collapsing. If the hose for the PCV is collapsing, you should get a thicker hose.

1. Dunno

2. No, it doesnt come with the gasket. Dont take it out, it is a pain to get back in! ( I know from experience)

3. See #2

4. The PCV allows gasses from inside the valve cover from the oil and such to go into the intake tract to be burnt. (for emissions)

The teltale way to check the PCV is take it out and shake it, if it rattles it is good. If you think it may need to be replaced, they are only a couple of bucks, so it wouldnt hurt anything to go ahead and replace it anyways.

thanx guys

A new one is $2.50 so I'll pick one up after work and let you know what happens.

Could it be causing the ses light?

I honestly dont know wether there is a way this would cause an SES or not. The easiest way to get a better idea what is causing the SES is to get the code read and let us know what the error is.
