Default Plastic on radiator issues...

I have a cracked radiator that is seeping fluid from the left side of the car right under the top hose. Lucky thing is that I found a good rad. in the salvage yard. I flushed it and had it pressure tested. Its all good. I just would like to know if they are any fixes on preventing the cracks in the same location along the third and fourth plastic rib. I checked all the radiators in the salvage yard(12 cars). All of them had this same crack starting. Plastic sucks when it comes to something that heats up and expands. Stupid technicians. Also, is there any straight aftermarket radiators that can be purchased for a 93 sl2 that have no plastic on them?

there is no direct fix to avoid the crack. I fould a local parts store that sells the rad for $120 with a lifetime warranty, but it still has the plastic end tanks. there are all metal radiators out there, but if I remember they are $300+. threr was a thread about this a while back you might search for that had more specific info on the replacement.

Plastic sucks, I replaced two in my 94. I got them from Joey at 6th planet for like 60 or 70 bucks shipped. He gurantees the parts and the first one was my fach up I didnt replace the thermo as well. Make sure when you do the radiator, you replace the hose clamps and the thermo to make sure. And use a Saturn thermo, not a CarQuest or other part as it will not open. Something to do with the spring tension.

Anyways, its about $330 for a Aluminum radiator.

I would recommend against getting the radiator from anyplace that has to ship to you - if you have problems, your car will have down time guranteed. Best to get this sort of part locally unless it's just rediculously expensive locally, IMO.
