Default Please help overheating and running very rich

I have a 94' SL1 single cam 1.8l and I've been trying to diagnose some problems that it has. First off, the cooling fans don't come on. I've checked the relay and the motor itself, but nothing helps. The temp gauge reads hot, so i was told it's probably not the switch. Second the car runs extremely rich, so much so that it often floods itself out. the plugs, wires and o2 are all new. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

First, it's a 1.9L, not 1.8.

When you say the temp gauge reads hot, how hot? The cooling fan's normal operation is to only come on when the AC is on, or when the temp gauge reaches 3/4. Any temp below that is normal, and it's not unusual for the temp to occasionally reach that temp, have the fan come on, and the temp proceed to drop a fair amount. As far as the flooding - that's beyond me. Just thought this initial info may help you some.

id say look to your cts sensor, coolant temperature sensor. when that sensor goes bad the car can run rich and act up and also it controls your fan.

BUT! if you do replace it, go to the dealer or at least napa. dont buy one from any other places.

reading past the 3/4 mark is bad. Make sure your fan is kicking on.
