Default Problem startig car

Ok. Well, it was about 13 degrees outside this morning when I went to start my car. It turned over like 2 times, very slow, and then just died. There wasn't enough juice to try to fire. So, around 12 or so I tried to start it again. Still, no good. So, I put it on a quick charge for about 1minute and tried it. By that time the lights in my dash were up to their normal brightness. So, I tried to start it again. Well, it turned over a lot better this time, but like every 5 seconds or so, it sounded like 1 cyl. tried to fire, but couldn't. I just left to the hood up for about an hour while the weather warmed up. It was then about 21 outside and I put the quick charge back on and it fired up, but slowly cause it was cold. White white smoke came out the back of the car for about a good 10 secs or so, then it as back to normal exhaust. The battery is 3 months old. WHat could this mean when it's starting like that?

Bad starter--to much current draw. Bad battery not putting out enoguh or storing enough. Bad alt, not charging enough. The white smoke, likely from to much fuel in the cylinders form turning over so much and not starting.

Ok, since the car is efi, is it possible to still flood the car by pumping the gas pedal a few times? Because I pushed it a few times trying to give it gas, but I didn't know if that had any affect because it's efi.

Well, it started just fine today. Turned over a little slow because it's cold out, but it started. It must have just been frozen yesterday.

From what I understand about EFI, you can still flood it, but not in the same way as a carbeurated engine. When an EFI engine tries to start, the PCM sends the signal to inject gas, otherwise it wont start. If the engine does not crank tho, the gas just sits in the cylinders... and thats where the smoke came from.

If you hold the gas pedal ALL THE WAY DOWN on a flooded fuel injected engine, it will shut the injectors down which will help to start a flooded engine...
