Default probs with my satty

I got a new job that i have to travel 150 miles a day to get to .......my problem is everyother day i'm putting 10 in gas. .... is that alot?.....my car is a 93 sc 1.9 4 cyl......my other prob is my battery dies on me and i know that i need to replace it but would that effect the ignition? (when i turn the key theres a delay in start and it's hard to turn over) i think i'm going to break the key i have to turn it so hard. ......any ideas? also where can i get the interior door trim....i have saftey seats and the trim for them has 2 broken clips and it hangs a little bit......thank you for your help with this.

It sounds like your mileage is within reason. Driving 150 miles a day gets pretty expensive these days. If you're driving mainly freeways in a SOHC, you should be getting a little more out of it. Otherwise, those city streets burn up gas like crazy.

The battery will affect many aspects of your car, including its ability to start. Before rushing out and buying a battery, make sure that's your only problem. A bad alternator, short, or other problem could be draining your battery. Take it down to your local "trusted" parts place and have the battery and alternator tested.

Joey might be able to help you out with those interior trim pieces.

110 mph/ 5500 RPM redline on the gauges means you have the SOHC. 130mph/ 6500 is DOHC. I believe it says it on the cam covers as well, whether its (s)OHC or DOHC 16V

10 gallons "every other day" on a 150 mile commute (150 miles X 2 = 300 MILES) would equate to 30 mpg...not too shabby for a car with that's 10 years old at this point. Just MAKE SURE you check the oil at EVERY fill up!

10 $ gas or 10 gal.? Either way not to shabby for 300 miles. Get the battery and the alternator checked out for the hard start problem. Or is the problem just a delay in anything happening when you turn the key to start? Can you describe a bit better which trim pieces you mean.

with the delay i have power everywhere else on the car but it just starts hard.....i think that cuz the battery is dead or dying that is the cause....as for the trim it is the trim that is on the inside top of the car, it is the plastic trim for the saftey belts....the car was stripped in a bust and when the car was put back together they weren't careful......umm how else do i explain the trimm.......ummmm it seperates the carpet on the roof from the belts...it's the cover......any ideas as to where to find the piece kinda cheap like? thanks
