The air movement from the open oil cap is normal with the engine running is normal. It comes from the movement of the valve train. Blow by shows more if you have the PCV valve out and the tube from the intake ducting out. Any fumes or smoke coming from the PCV opening or the tube would be blow by.

well replaced the ECTS. the car is running a lot cooler and seems to idle a little better. i noticed now it shifts harder, as in you can feel it more now then before. it still needs to warm up before the torque converter locks in though. it's still a little rough starting, i need to give it gas to get it running. could the gas filter be bad?

I'm not sure about the fuel filter.

In many cases with EFI engines, having to open the throttle in order to get the engine to start is a sign that crud is on the throttle body and/or idle air control, which makes the passages smaller than they should be. Once you get rid of that crud, if the problem continues, it may mean that the idle air control motor does not open as it should.
