Default Radio connector pin repair

while attempting to wire up an aftermarket deck, to check for operation, I blew out the radio fuse. No problem except after replacing the fuse, I hooked my stock system back up only to find out that it no longer worked correctly.

After playing with live wires I have come to the conclusion that the conductor shortly after the pin has been broken.
Any one konw how to get to these things with out causing more damage? I can shorten/ lengthen the wire once i get rid of the bad portion, but I don't want to loose the entire connector which is the only option I see right now.

Thanks for you help

Are you referring to a pin in the factory radio harness plug?

If there is an inch or so of wire on the backside of the terminal that's still good, you could probably manage to cut and splice it back in to the harness with a little work. If the wire is broken off at the pin... Well, you can more than likely replace just that pin in the block. I had to replace two pins inside of the radio connector block on my 2001 SL after it was stolen. Someone had attempted to rip the radio free from the plug in the back and in doing so, had broken a few ofthe wires free of the terminals. I carefully extracted a pin from the block with a small jewelry screwdriver and took it with me to the local NAPA. They looked up the terminal in a book and ordered a package of them. All I had to do then was crimp the new terminals on to the existing wires and snap them back in to the block in the proper locations and everything was as good as it ever was.

The insulator isn't severed. The conductor is my guess. Do you have the number that NAPA used to order those pins?
I can't imagine that Saturn would fluctuate someting so minute so it should be the same.

My thinking is that if a continuity check on the wire proves good, then the key for the pin has been bent and the pin still needs to be replaced.

thanks for your help

Unfortunately, I don't have any idea what that part number was. I do know that the pin blocks on the back of the 2000+ models seems to be a lot different than the older versions, though. Somehow I don't think the pins are the same.

right on. I just removed the suspect wires from the junction block and spliced in some quick disconnects. Things seem to be in working order now.

Thanks for your help.
