| Rear Disc Conversion I was going to do the rear disc conversion in the next couple of weeks and had a few questions. Can the rotors from the front be put on the rear? What brake pads do people recommend since I will need to replace the pads on the front at the same time? Any other hints on how to do it would be helpful too.

| No, you can't NOT use ANY front brake parts in the rear.

| No front brake parts in the rear. The lines only need to be swapped out from just behind the wheel. (flex lines) Also, the parking brake lines are different.

| is there any one who makes a kit for rear disk conversion (for like a 92 sl2) or should someone just get all the parts and do it that way??
a kit should be cheaper no?? cause they can get all the stuff at wholesale or wahtever and then sell it for profit instead of us paying retail on every thing seperatly, or do u think a kit would have some "lesser quality" stuff??
...i did try a search but came up with a lot of things that didnt help me much so i got discouraged and gave up... |

| Damn it. I wanted to put powerslot rotors on the front. From what I have read from SPS they usually put OEM rotors and pads on the rear and performance ones on the front, so that they get more bite on the front. My front rotor is still in great condition, so if it fit on the rear I would be in good shape.
As for the kit, you can purchase if for $750 from SPS, $350 from Joey, or hit up a junkyard and pull the parts from any 1st or 2nd gen SL/SC with ABS. For some retarded reason on the 3rd gen like mine they went back to drums.

| the beauty of our kits are they come pre assmebled, which makes install MUCH easier then say the sps or other kits.
our kits come with the complete hub assay, this way all you have to do is simply drop the 4 amin bolts holding your hub and drum assay up, remove the brake line and parking brake cable, then reverse the procedure, bleed the rbakes and your done.
also saturn bearings are known to fail, we sell tons of hubs and bearings, since the hubs and bearings are interchangable (and very costly new) you get the benift of having your old hubs as spares in case down the road you have a bearing failure.
we have one kit in stock right now and they are getting harder and harder to find used since they stopped making them around 98, they also sell fast.
factory saturn apds are costly but are good, they dont squeal and have good stopping power.
our kit comes totally complete but of course we recomend using new pads when doing the install....
oh, and for you tech heads heres a little known saturn factoid, in 95 ONLY they expermented with abs and rear DRUMS. i guess they did this in anticapation of dropping the rear dics abs option, ive only seen about 2 out of literally hundreds of saturns, both were 95's and had abs and rear drums....then, in 96 it was back to the usual rear disc with abs, until late 97 when they dropped it totally from the option list, now all abs saturns are rear drum, which sucks... drums are antique, have terrible stopping ability in the rain, etc....

| First choice: Joey-pre-assembled, ready to go.
Second choice: Retail-it's not all that expensive.
Third choice: Wreckers, if you can find, you'll get a deal.
Fourth choice: Kit. Too damned expensive.
