Default Saturn sl2 2002 engine problems

Okay so i was driving today, then my saturn stalled out. Wasnt a harsh stall. Just stalled. i Checked all the fuel and spark fuses and checked the fuel pump solenoid and none burnt or blown. The tow truck guy says that saturns are infamous for fuel pump issues. So i dont know. I also used a scanner and the engine is throwing no codes... i had a theory that it might be the crank pos sensor. other than that i dont know.....any ideas???

Welcome to the Board.

Have you checked to see if you are getting spark to the spark plugs, or at the very least from the coils? Remove the plug wires from the coils and crank the engine (need helper) to see if there is spark at the coils.
Fuel level is good? Do you have a sqirt of fuel from the fuel pressure test port when you depress the valve after the key has been turned to the run position?

So I think I ruled out the fuel pump. When I turn the car to the run position I can till hear the fuel pump whirring in the back. The problem I had prior to this is that when you're close to idle or idleing while in drive or reverse usually when im doing under like 15mph you could feel the car dog out for a second. as if it wasnt getting enough fuel. Happens very occasionally and that what it did before it completely died. So what sensor could get it to bog down then instantly pick back up with a quick tap of the gas pedal? I still have suspisions of the crank position sensor. I was thinking of spraying a little throttle body cleaner in the intake and see if it turns over. if it doesnt that its def a spark issue. I also failed to mention i got a completely custom intake manifold with a 3 inch high performance throttle body best two weeks i spent in machine shop class.

just for future refrence most saturn fuel pumps are pretty reliable, but in 97 they must have changed suppliers cause allthough it was the same fuel pump, cars built from 6 of 96 to 6 of 97 THOSE had notoriously bad problems, other then that particular year saturn fuel pumps hold up as well as any other car maker.....joey
ps, when you find out what the problem is let me know if you need a part to fix you up, well take good care of you, thanks! Joey
