Saturn using way too much Oil I have a 1995 Saturn SL1 Manual, and I am having problems with the car using/burning too much oil. The car has burned oil since the day I got it, but here lately itâs been going through oil more and more every week. It started out with me checking my oil 4 days ago, (Dec/12), and it turned out to be fine. I drive the car a lot, mainly to school and to my friendâs house, maybe 5-9 miles. Well today, I drove to my friendâs house, which happens to be about 25 miles away. So I take the highway, as soon as I turn off the off-ramp, I notice the engine making a very strange noise when I accelerate. So as soon as I get to his house, I stop the car and check the oil, only to find out that the oil is below the oil registering part of the dip stick!!! I flipped out, so I put in Vavoline Max life 10w-30 oil in for high mileage engines. I knew the engine was hot, so I only poured enough in so that it registered half way on the dip-stick. So I let the engine cool down so that I can check the oil again, and itâs fine. I drive home, being very cautious, taking it easy. When I get home I let the car cool down for about 20 min and I check the oil again, only to find out that the oil is low yet again. So I put a little more oil in and I leave to get gas, and go to Starbucks. I go to a friendâs house after Starbucks and chill out. An hour later I checked my oil before I leave, and its halfway on the dipstick, from when it was originally at the full line. I fill it yet again and drive home. I tell my mom about the situation, and we are going to have it checked out. I guess I am not going to be driving it until it gets fixed. The thing that I don't understand is how the oil is getting so low and I not notice the engine smoking, and itâs certainly not leaving oil puddles on the ground. I checked the engine, and around the right side of the block, I notice some oil soaked into the block, so I am guessing that something is leaking, and getting burned. Anyone who can help would be greatly appreciated! |
