Default Shift stick got owned, need help finding part

Hi, I am having trouble finding a "bushing" that connects the shift stick with the clutch. It broke and now I cant shift, the shift stick is all loose, and it seems like no one has the part. Can anyone tell me where I can find this part? Its for a 1995 Saturn SL2. Thanks guys! Also... what happens if you start your car off in 4th gear...?

Yes, I called my local Saturn dealership and they said they couldn't sell me the bushing by itself, that they had to sell me the whole part that it was connected to which was 160 dollars. And hell no, I ain't paying 160 dollars for a small plastic thing.

If you don't want to but the shifter calbes new from Saturn then you will need to go used. Try Joey from 6th planet used parts. He runs a banner ad here on the board. When he is not recovering from hurricanes he is active on the board as well. The grommet is not sold seperately from the cables.

here is a poat and possibly an answer to your solution.

"I was driving home here resent and my gear shift just totally came loose. Freaked me totally out. I've never had a problem with my car until now. Well, I finally get the car off the road, it was tuff cause it wouldn't roll that great, take out the consol and what do I see? The cables are off the shifter. The bushing that holds the ball in the cable ring is shattered. I get home with it call Saturn and they tell me I have to buy the hole cable system. $174 for it. No way I can just get the $1.00 bushing of course. So I get online and start searching. GOOGLE SAVED MY LIFE. Hear is a site where this guy had the same problem and someone replayed with an answer. It worked just perfect. http://www.autoguide.net/cgi-sec/aut...cgi?1589.shtml So if you have same problem I recommend this as a defiant replacement. Works just great for me. If anyone knows of something better please get back to me at sc1whitedragon@aol.com. Hope this helps anyone who has had this happen to them. "
