Default Shifter Linkage Cables

I had to install new cables on my 2001 sc1 as the old ones were streched but now with the new ones in I can't seem to get it to go into second gear and when I put it in third and let out the clutch it just grinds. I was wondering if any one else has run into this problem before or knew of some things to check in order to solve this problem. Thanks

I had to replace my shift cables on my 2001 SC2 this past week.

I have some problems getting into 2nd gear also. I dont have any grinding, but I DO have some probs getting it to go into 2nd, sometimes.

I have NO effin clue why, either...

Are you guys sure you have the routing exactly the same, and that the cables are all the way into the clips? I had to replace a shift linkage once and I couldn't get the car into any of the forward gears (1st, 3rd, 5th). It turned out that one of the clips routing it through the engine bay had pulled out just a bit and the cable wasn't firmly seated in another one, creating just enough tension that the cable couldn't extend all the way. It's something to look at anyway.

I dunno. I didn't install the cables myself. So, I guess when I get a chance, I'll take it back to the mechanic and have him look at it once again.

After all, he needs to check the "centering" spring. My stick doesn't center all the way. I dont know if its broke, or if its stretched too much...I dont know...
