Default Smashed my car tonight...

Well i put my car in a hell of a ditch and it needs a **** load of work...I'm hoping it still drives fine...Only prob is i broke a fuel line on the way down into the ditch...the fuel line is on the drivers side of the car and it looks like a rubber hose. It got pinched...so it leaks now. Is there a way to fix that problem? Without replacing the whole thing? Any help would be great seeing it doesn't run with it like that

Yeah thanks...I'm okay pretty banged up though. The cop was a complete jerk but his partner was nice. The car has been stalling on me lately and i dropped someone off from school and was going down a hill and when i pushed in the clutch in it stalled...i tried starting it but it wouldn't and I turned the key to far and the wheel locked. Well the wheel was turned seeing i was going down a hill so i kept on the breaks and was going towards the side of the rd then they went out cuz they are power and motor wasn't running...and it started going faster..i put it in gear but it wouldn't..just grinded...so yanked on the break doing 30 mph and pumped it but didn't help....slid side ways off the road and into a ditch and trees stopped me..doing about 20 when i hit them prob...sounds like its was easy to avoid it but it all happened much quicker...I threw some duct tape on the line for now hoping it will hold...I think its a plastic line its right under the drivers side door...Any ideas

the duct tape won't last long - gasoline will eat through it. I've not messed with fuel lines much, so unfortunately I'm not much help here. You might ask a moderator to move this thread to the technical section, and ssicarman (sp?) might be able to tell you what you'll have to replace - he's a saturn tech.

Sorry to tell you that the fuel lines can't be repaired.

They need to be replaced. As for the duct tape is will last as long as gas does not get to it. So in other words it will not do anything. The fuel pressures can run 40-50 PSI depending on the model so there is really nothing that you can do to PROPERLY repair the line..

So how much we talking to fix this? Is it something i can do myself or should I bring it somewhere. I am pretty handy when it comes to this car so I would like to do it myself. I put a ton of duck tape on it tonight and it held..took the car out about a couple miles and it drives fine shifts smooth...only problem is its way out of alignment...and has a huge bubble in the tire ..brand new too. Thanks for all the help

Tempting fate even further. Go but a lottery ticket but don't use the car to drive to get it. The line will need to be replaced likely from the fuel filter to the tank area. Check around in wrecking yards to get a good used line set. I can't remember for sure right now but I THINK that there may be connections before the fuel tank so that you don't need to remove the tank to get the lines.

Thanks...yeah i mean its not to bad...The front bumper is pushed in on one side and the hood is a little tweaked but nothing out of the ordinary. Undercarriage I think is fine. I wish I had pictures...I think the car was at a 60 degree angle when all was done. I'm going to take some of the skid marks because the cop is being stupid...no respect at all. Hopefully that fuel line isn't to much of a pain to change. Have to look at it, hopefully don't have to touch the tank...The car runs fine. Anyone ever have to change their lines? Thanks

Well I fixed my fuel line by putting this in the line along with 2 hose clamps on each side. It works well and is very snug.

Now my suspension is all screwed up. My left tire seems to be slanted inwards and to the right a bit. More inwards then anything. Drives fine though but steering feels loose. Could it be a tie rod you think. Any pointers would be great. Thanks guys
