Default Sticky gas pedal

I have a problem with my gas pedal sticking when I first press it at the beginning of a drive. No matter the time of day, cold or hot. I kinda have to do a controlled punch, just to "unstick" it, after that it's not as hard to press. If I sit at a red light for 2 minutes, it's just as sticky as when I first cranked it. Now, if I'm on the interstate, it's not hard to keep pressed. It's just hard to get it out of that position from the beginning. I've searched the board for info about this (only for a few minutes though-too many pages to read-LAZY) and could find lots about sitcky clutches, but none about the gas pedal problem. A little about my turtle's specs: 2000 SL1, 4 cyl auto trans,100 HP (hence the nickname turtle) power nothing, no cruise. Any help would be great!

Take the intake tube off the throttle body, and look inside. You probably have ALOT of carbon build-up behind the throttle plate. Get some carb & choke cleaner from your local parts house and an old tooth brush. Spray the inside of the throttle body down and scrub. Your problem should go away.

Happy Driving.

while using the above procedure, I usually open the trottle plate and use a pair of vise grips to hold it open by clamping the part where the cable attaches to the stop on the side of the throttle body. Then I cram a rag under the butterfly while cleaning the top half to minimize the amount of carb cleaner and carbon that ends up in the intake mainfold to be burn off. This way when you clean the bottom half (backside of the butterfly) it is held all the way open and you can spray it down and scrub easily.

Just a few tips form my experience with cleaning the TB.

Oh yeh, make sure to spray some cleaner into the little hole in the bottom inside the TB to cleanout the passage to the IAC valve while your in there.
