| still having problems. can anyone help me nail them down?
i cannot get the wagon to kick over. it cranks just fine, but it just doesn't kick.
spark plugs are black, but not sooty or carbon scored.
the filter a K&N was just washed and replaced this morning.
i also replaced the o2 sensor. the old one was scorched black with little dropplets of fuel on it (that can't be good)
i'm almost positive it's got too much fuel in it.
i was told to attempt to start it while holding the throttle down as this activates a "clear flood function" in the PCM, it seemed to kick a few times, but nothing.
the fuel filter is brand new as are the plug wires.
i haven't had a chance to test spark, but i will later when i have help.
anyone got and ideas. |

| Right off the top of my head and with the limited information you gave...sounds like the "classic" symptoms of a bad CPS. (Crankshaft Position Sensor)

| When you cleaned your K&N, did you wash it with water like they said. I did and let it dry for 4 hours but it was still a little wet and the car wouldnt start for about another hour or two until it was totally dry. It then ran like **** for about 5 minutes then all was fine. Make sure the filter is TOTALLY dry. |

| ok, i got this CPS thing from you and a couple of techs, i figure it's worth looking at.
however, i can't remove it to replace it.
my haynes manual says remove wires, remove bolt, lift out of engine block.
except i can't find a bolt anywhere...
wheres the friggin bolt? |

| I would probably do some more troubleshooting before I started buying parts. (ok, maybe new plugs) Quote: |

| Did you ever check this? Quote: |

| "It seemed to kick a few times" sounds like maybe there is a spark, personally I would want to rule out water from the filter.
You might crank it a few times with no plugs in it, and then install clean dry plugs. If you install the plugs in the wires, and lay them on a ground (like the exhaust) when you have someone else crank you can be sure the cylanders are clear of all water, and see if you have "spark" at the same time.
Install clean, dry plugs and see if she will fire.
If not, you will at least know more about the ignition, and can give everyone more information to help you.
Good luck.

| well i got a full parts car, so i'm not buying new parts for troubleshooting.
if it turns out that the sensor fixes it, i'll go buy one.
there isn't any water in the engine, i havent put the K&N back in yet. |

| Sounds like the same problems I just went through! I had to tear apart my EGR valve and baptize it WD-40. Changed the fuel pressure regulaotr inthe TB. Then I had to change the fuel injector, for an unrelated fuel leak. Now I have to change the Coolant Sensor. The one with 2 wires. Sounds like a air fuel mixture problem. I woould start with either cleaning or changinf the EGR valve. It has ALLOT to do with fuel mixture. But do the obviuos first. Make sure your plug wires are in the proper firing order! Betcha money on it, your PCM is fine. If your car was running one day, and nor the next. I would start with the wires. THen go from there. |

| Malice pull the coolant temp sensor, located on the drivers side of the head near where the upper radiator connects the engine, look at it and see if it has a crack in it. If it does the PCM will think that the motor is cold and send more fuel, thus flooding out the engine and making it not start. I hope that this works for ya, mine was doing sort of the same thing but mine would start still, it would just run really rough and dump fuel out the exhaust.
