Default Sun roof clicking sound?

I have a 96 SL1 and when I try to open my sun roof, I hear a clicking noise and it won't open. It sounds as if a plastic gear has gone bad or something. Anyone know what this is, before I take it all apart? Thanks!

You're not going to like this answer but...the sunroof operator (motor tracks etc) is gone, dead, kaput and or broken. This MUST be replaced as a ASSEMBLY on the 96's $$$$. Check with Joey for the slim chance he has one, I understand he sells LOTS of them.

Oh, yeah, sorry man, mine did the same thing this time last year. The sunroof motor had gone bad. Luckily, I was still under warranty and they fixed it for free (even got me in my very own Saturn commercial!), but I'm not sure how much they cost outright.

If joey is around, I was wondering if he has a website or can tell me how I go about purchasing the sunroof unit that I need from him. It has now started leaking somewhereand I guess I am going to need a new seal for it as well. Thanks for your help!

Look up to the ad banner. His ad will come up. 6thplanetusedparts.com

Before you get a replacement make sure that the drain hoses from the sun roof are not plugged or have come off. To check this you will need to remove or drop the corners of the headliner down.
