| Tire Sizes??? I thought I read this someone where else, maybe not, but I couldn't find it for the likes of me. Anyways.
I was figuring up tire sizes for various rim sizes. I know for the stock wheel it's 196/60/15 which when you do the caculations on it, it equals 24.21. anyways I saw on tirerack.com for a 205/45/17 wheel it equals 24.26. My questions is If I went to an 18" rim what size would my tire have to be?
for 18" here's what i had for figures
205/40/18 = 24.46
205/35/18 = 23.65
195/40/18 = 24.14
are these TOO far off to keep my speedometer correct? If so how precise does it have to be???
thanks |

| You can go here and use the tire calculator.
It's a lot easier and tells you everything you need to know. http://www.saturnperformance.com/tech/tiresize/
As for the speedometer, I am pretty sure it can be adjusted.

| cool, i didn't even realize they had that there. so basically i'd be going with the 205/40/18's and that should be FINE and dandy...it said i'd be 1% too slow. WHOOPY DO DAH. |

| That is correct!
Eventhough I still have my crappy 14-inch stockers, the calculator comes in handy.
Run with it.
Run like the wind does blow.

| Don't know what words you use to search, but you can try it with this:
"4x100" rims
and see if that shows anything different.
The ones I've seen have been over $400 so far, I think.

| Em,
Just remember that the same size tire from various manufacturers can vary wildly. It is best to check the tire manufacturer specs to see just what the overall diameter of the tire is, befor you buy. |

| Thanks Scott I didn't know that but I guess it's just like sneakers different brands are slightly different. |
