Default Tranny Fluid Flush


Hi folks
on my new(used) 92 SL2 it states to use Mercon II, do you think I can usesome Amsoil Mercon V fluid for the Saturn Tranny since I got a whole case of it or should I stick with good old regular Mercon III, I got the OEM tranny filter all set. thanx in advance

I got some Mobil ATF synthetic fluids too. which would you guys prefer to put in your saturn? thanx

I would go with the Mobil 1 ATF. I run it in my car along with many other Saturn owners with no problems.

Mobil1 and Amsoil work incredibly well, I don't really have a preference.
Also, I have heard that Mercon V doesn't go into Mercon II transmissions correctly.
When in doubt, use Amsoil. It is compatible with most transmissions.

I would be very surprised if the factory reccomended trans fluid is Mercon. That is a Ford trans fluid. The factory reccomended fluid would be Dexron trans fluid. You should be good with any name brand trans fluid that states that it is OEM rated/compatible.
