Default trans troubles

ok here goes i have had this trouble with my trans chattering while in reversse so i bought the new valve body set up i replaced that and was going to check the torque on the input shaft nut in the sode of the trans i removed the cpver and i find the lock washer on the sprag side is in 3 pieces..... i am wondering if this might have been caused by the chattering or what caused the chattering. i have a new washer and nut on order and will be replacing them this week. whats the gurus(wolfman, ssicarman, joeybagodonuts) opinion on this

bryan

Is it just me or is some one impatient?

I believe that you have your shafts mixed up. The output shaft has the sprag clutch on it. Six sided nut. The input shaft should have the the multi point nut. The washer that you refer to is a thrust washer. If it is broken into pieces it certainly could cause the problems that you say you have. It may be the result of said problems. But with the washer broken up I would imagine that the nut was no longer providing the proper torque onto the shaft which will cause problems as well. Really the only thing to do is to replace the washer and nut put it all back together and see if it is fixed. You have found a problem that could cause what you are getting. Everything else seems to work ok? So fix the definate problem and go from there.
