Default Transmission Reverse Slam

I have a '96 Saturn SL1 with an automatic transaxle. I drive 35 miles to school and 35 miles back, all highway driving. Today after gettin home, i shifted into reverse and the car took a second an dthen jerked into reverse. Ive had this happen once before after highway driving. But this only seems to happen after the car is really hot. No SES. And it seems to shift forward fine. any help would greatly be appreciated.

forgot mention the milage on my car. It has 87k miles on it. Ive read about wolfman's method. Was also wondering about any thoughts on that method for my model car?

Try it. Wolfman says that you gotta use the thin additives, not the thick stuff (shake the bottle).

You got nothin to loose by trying it, so go for it.

I can't think of them off the top of my head, but if you go to saturnfans.com and do a search for reverse slam and wolfman being the author, you should find a post by him from not too long ago that Tells what he personally uses.

Just as long as it's thin, I don't think it matters.

I used Prolong transmission additive. Tried wolfman's method with no success. I was gonna try it again tomorrow. So I have two questions. If I keep putting the car in reverse idle, is there a possibility that it will clear up ? And does anybody have any other suggestions?(other than a valve body replacement)

You did leave the tires on the ground in reverse with the parking brake set and the wheels chocked and a fresh filter/fluid?

Some people think that jacking it up will do the trick, but it needs the load to do it.

Other than a valve body, I can't think of anything.

I followed wolfman's instructions exactly. I'm pretty dissapointed because I had high hopes. Do you know what would the results be if i were to leave the trasnny alone? Also, do you know how to pull codes(if any) from a '96 Saturn without the scan tool?

OBDII I don't know of any way to pull them without getting it scanned.

AutoZone scans for free though.

Honestly, I can't say what would happen if you let it be.
