Default U Joint?

On my front left tire when I'm driving it makes a ticking noise, similar to if you had a rock stuck in your tire... Except there are no rocks in my tires. I checked my transmission fluid, that's up.

And when I take it out of gear it still makes the noise, how do I know if it's my U-Joint? I think that's what it might be, I have a friend and his Jeep was doing the same thing and that's what it was.

How hard is it to replace, and how much will it cost?

i think only RWD vehicles have u joints, i think you should have your CV axles/joints checked out, does it do it when ever you turn, or just cruising or what?

It's constant, whether I'm turning or not.

What about a throw-out bearing in your clutch... Doesn't that make a similar noise?
