| Wet floor pan Well, it's been raining here 2 days nonstop from this tropical stom BS and they're calling for more tomorrow. I was going to class earlier tonight, and when I was backing out of the driveway and I used my brakes, at that time water went on the passenger rear floor pan. So somehow the water is being held somewhere and when the car make a stop it runs down on the floorpan from wherever it's coming from. Anyone have any idea what the problem is? Since we have had this great rainy weather for 2 days nonstop , I haven't been able to pull up the carpet. Also, what's best to use to get them mildew out of the carpet? Since I'm sure before too long it will be reeking soon. Can anyone help me? |

| matt, what model saturn do you own? sunroof equipped? theres sevral sources of leaks in saturns, some are easy, such as bending the top of then door frames to fit more snug against the seals, others, like a leaking roof are a little more complex but i can walk you through the procedure to clear the lines and check for leaks.
next, the a/c evaporator drainage lines occasionally get clogged or fall off, thus resulting in it building up the in evap core housing/body and then it spills out when taking a turn or when its high enough.
so you got a rainstorm in your car huh? who ya gonna call? LEAK EXPERTS!

| I have a '93 SC1, no sunroof. I took out some of the interior pieces and the bottom of the back seat, and pulled the rear carpet up a little bit ago. The only place with water is the rear floor pans, the insulation under the carpet was wet. Seems like it is running from the passenger side rear. So the water is running in and being held somwhere somehow. So I shoved my hand up a little bit where the rear passenger trim is from the bottom (big plastic trim that below rear passenger side window). When I press the brakes the water came in. So, who knows it could be coming in from somewhere else too that I don't know of.
Edit: I typed rear floor pans, but it's only the right rear floor pan collecting water. |

When your part of the world dries out get some time and strip out the inside of the car where you suspect the leak may be coming from and then turn the sprinkler onto the car climb on in and start looking. As for the floor mats strip them out of the car on a good hot sunny day and vac all the water out that you can and then let them dry in the sun until the are bone dry. Perhaps try misting them with bleach to try and prevent any growth of stuff as well. |
