Default Catastropically Leaking Ion

I have an '05 Ion that has been reliable, defect free and good looking. It has only 60K miles, never been wrecked, bought new and has been well taken care of. It suddenly started leaking during the last major rain storm. All windows and sunroof were confirmed shut sat unused for three days before we noticed a problem. The windows were fogged from the inside and the carpet and floor board were covered in water and mildew. The interior stinks and now the dome lights by the windshield wont turn off therefor I had to unhook the battery. This seems to be a catastrophic type leak that must be a defect since I have heard now of many others with the same problem. Does anyone have any advice since it is out of warranty?

Let me see, my wife has a 2007 ION, youngest Daughter has a 2007 ION, oldest Daughter has a 2007 ION, I have a 2007 ION, Son has a 2006 ION, and none of them leak from any location. So where you came up with the BS that "YOU HEARD" it's some sort of defect I have no idea. Now if you have a sunroof the drains could be plugged and that is common on EVERY car built that has a sunroof.

Hey there. I worked in a body shop for three that dealt primarily with Saturns. There were problems with some ION models leaking through the top of the doors through the seals. Check the tops of the front doors at a seam. If it is uneven, it will channel the water under the rubber and into the car. It is a warranty fix. I would say the culprit is the Sunroof though. I also know of a co-worker who had the same problem. Check the rubber around the sunroof to see if it is dry or cracked.

Since my initial post I have in fact spoken with a reliable authority and have confirmed that there have been several problems with the Ion leaking due to a defect in the rubber door seals. The sarcastic and myopic post from Mr. Senior Member must mean that if he's never had a problem then there cannot be one. Maybe, since you do not own a 2005 sir you cannot speak with crediblity or most notably maturity.

Well now that you have in fact spoken to a reliable authority, fix your car.
