If a subwoofer advertises 1000W Peak and 200W RMS, it's most likely not worth your time. The only manufacturers that do that are fleamarket garbage subs... Sony is included in that...
Pyle, Legacy, Lanzar, American Pro, Boss, Volfenhag, Pyramid... They're all junk for the most part. Sony's car audio has gone down the drain in years past due to having an inflated ego. They're thinking they can get away with selling garbage for fluffed up prices.
Pioneer's lower-end products aren't all that great (namely subwoofers). Pioneer's high-end stuff however, is quite nice, especially the head units.
The 10" sub that Techun posted gets great reviews and is priced very nicely.
If your amp is rated to put 300W RMS into 2 Ohms, go with a DVC 4 Ohm subwoofer in the 250-400W range. If it puts 300W RMS into 4 Ohms bridged, get a SVC 4 Ohm woofer in the same power range.
