Default Trunk Rattling Fix List

Here is a list of fixes to do before you go out as the alst resort to get dynamat.
Rattles found and fixed on Saturn 2001 SL1:

1) License Plate Lights (Biggest Rattling Noise)

2) Spare Tire (Make sure everything is bolted down tight and put a towel between the spare tire and the metal trunk bottom.

3) All wires that touch the trunk lid (Just wrap cloth around them; make sure it doesn’t interfere with opening the trunk)

4) License Plate (Make sure it’s tightened down tight, also maybe add a sponge or foam in-between the plate and trunk lid

5) Stuff towels in-between trunk openings on the lid inside to insulate even more

6) The Emergency trunk release (Wrap a piece of towel around it so it doesn’t rattle)

7) Lift up carpet in trunk and check under foam for spare coins or anything else that could be rattling.

If you have any to add to the list post them.

Yes. 3M makes some nice spray can type insulator (somewhat like "Great Stuff"), but unlike Great Stuff, it won't over-expand.

As for the foam behind the reflector piece: Home Depot/Fleet Farm should have some nice 1"x1"x24" sticks of foam. They're commonly used to seal the outer edge of in-window A/C units to the insides of the window frame.
