NOT TRUE... he just didn't try hard enough. No, it's highly unlikely that shooting at it with a machine gun will cut it. But I'm sure a grenade launcher would do the trick in 'blowing it up'. Just like the movies.

cars in movies are usually wired with propane tanks to create the explosions they so. a gas tank alone with not cause an explosion like that.

Ripping it up with the Ma Deuce kicked arsch. I like how they escalated the force...

Beretta or Taurus 92/96 (most likely 9mm or .40 S&W).
Some sort of high powered Revolver (I'm guessing .44 Magnum or something, due to having six round capacity).
HK91, G3, or some sort of HK clone (sounds like 7.62x51 to me, as well as the recoil).
And lastly... The M2 (.50 BMG).
