| ahhhh...tequila...I mean, mas tequila,I mean..hold my head... sO, enough about me. Okay, a little about me. I did a two year stint at technical college in architectural, and I currently work for two architects, and a refractory company in Edmonton, Oiler Town, Alberta. Yes, I enjoy hockey, no I don't live in a f****n igloo.(okay, only 6 months of the year). I design buildings by drawing them in 2 and 3 dimensions on the computer, and I manufature concrete molds out of styrofoam with a CNC hotwire foam cutting machine.(phew) I spend way too much time indoors in a chair, in front of a monitor, in flourescent lighting(slightly resemble a mushroom, fed s**t and kept in the dark). I'm 32 and married, and own my hou..mortgage, and am a D.I.N.K.(dbl incm no kds). I bought my '98 SL-1 for the mileage, the twin daytime running lights (beautiful!) and the insurance safety rating (10). I now know a lot more about cars than I did 4 years ago when I bought this one (previously in a TANK of a '75 Monte Carlo (no, the '76 had the swivel buckets)) but that knowledge is close to none! I also know NOW to steer clear of most dealerships, and unfortunately both Saturn/SAAB/Isuzu's here in Edmonton . They are owned by the same company. I ended up on Saturn Spot beacuase of a "Saturn problems" search, and because Phil Edmonston (LemonAid) referred me to Joey of 6th Planet Auto Parts. I personally saved 3/4 of the quote the dealership gave me to replace my defective, bad rod, bad bearing, bad 125,000km engine(just my personal experience) because of meeting Joey. It seems to me that most of the people in these forums have a lot of good advice to share about our Saturns, and I'll be damned if GM Saturn Canada is going to extort any more money out of me! They declined, BTW, to help in any manner, and called it "reasonable performance". My engineering has to last, or I'm legally responsible if a building collapses! I guess GM isn't responsible.Got a new engine from Joey on the way, and looking at 4 more years of cornering, if I keep the Satty in shape (AS I HAVE). 4 year, $4000CAN relationship with the dealership until quoted $6200 OEM new engine, $4400CAN, 66000km used. Keep getting those fingernails dirty folks, there's no help from the Corporate UTOPIANS in the automotive industry. Anything I can share I will, and anything you share with me is greatly appreciated. We all learn from each other.

| Ja, aber mein auto so tot ist. Das tut mir aber leit, ach du lieber gott! Joey hast mein neue uber meister! Das ist gut, ich muss schneller und besser gefahren! (pardon my spelling, my German is HORRIBLE !). Thanks for the welcome, and please don't anyone peg me as a Saturn hater. I am one with Pepe (my SL-1). just need to get my parts from a REPUTABLE dealer, like Joey at 6th Planet. I'll be driving this Satty for a long time to come when Joey's engine gets up here! As it is , I have to attempt to keep the RPMs under 3000, and no sudden acceleration. I only drive it to and from work, and for neccesities, and I've put another 1500km on it since diagnosed with faulty rod and bearing. Yup, driving it into the ground. I sound like a Satty deisel! clack, clack, clack, clack, clack, clack, clack, clack,cl ack, clack, clack, clack, clack. I will post an update in technical when the new engine is in, and tell you the difference I notice!

| Welcome, although my skills of reading aren't great enough for me to finish your life story.
Have fun here!
