Code P0410..again and again and again Hi everyone, I'm new to the site and I joined after doing research and seeing the famous "410" code appear over and over: on my dash and on your site. I wanted to share my outcome in the hopes it will help others.
I have a 2001 SL2: just shy of 178K. Love it love it love it, but for 7 months + I kept getting the P0410 code. The dealer attempted to sell me a new transmission; first time I ever deviated from dealer service, I went to a transmission place and they wouldn't sell me one!! (think about it: they could have undercut the price by a few hundred bucks and still made out big, but they were decent). After replacing the O2 sensors and addressing the secondary air flow, the light/code was still on. I ultimately sat down with the dealer to hash is out: they removed the pipe that connects the air injection valve to the manifold port to find it was clogged with carbon. Why they didn't do this one of the prior times was beyond me, and quite frustrating that I had to push to see how thourogh they are in their maintenance inspections. They credited me back for the work done over prior months and fixed the problem, resulting in my car going thru emissions inspection. As this is one of the more common SES codes i wanted to share my story in the hopes it helps someone else who may have to 'push' their dealership to basically do the right thing. It was a 30 min job to fix after months of aggrevation... uhg!!! |
