Default Hello

Well just wanted to say hi. I picked up a 94 Saturn SC2 recently. Pretty clean and the previous owner owned it since 95 and i was looking for a cheap 4 cylinder for gas milage. So that's about it.

I think you'll enjoy the combo of good power & good fuel economy.

so far the car is doing me good. had to replace the outer tie rod end which was no big deal. really didn't seem bad to me but the wheel alignment place said it was too loose to align the front end. i went from a 3800 GM engine to this, so i do notice a lack in power, but for a 4 cylinder it's not bad. i was trying out escorts and they were really sluggish.

I think i got a good deal on it. It's a 94, and is pretty loaded. Auto, a/c, cruise, power windows, locks, and mirrors, traction control etc. seems to have all the options and everything works, especially the A/C. only thing that doesn't is the driver's side auto seatbelt. i have to manually buckle myself which i prefer instead of that auto crap strapping me in. car is pretty clean inside and out. interior is near mint condition. body has no dings or stratches, only the panels on the flip up headlights are bad. they started to rust but i plan on picking some up at a junkyard or sanding these ones down and refinishing them. The people who owned it before me, owned it since 1995 when it had 29,000 miles and they had the original title from 95 to prove it. they also had a list of maintenance done to the car, and the tires are brand new. atleast $500 worth in tires alone. anyways i ended up paying $1200 for the car. KBB in good condition, which it definitely is, and private party value is $2100. judging by the 4 cylinders i was looking at, nothing was close for that price in the cosmetic and mechanical condition this car is in. so all in all i think i got a good deal on it.

i really don't plan to mod it or anything like that. maybe tint the windows since i feel like i'm riding in a fish bowl. just going to do some minor repairs and maintenance.

Also i do have a question after all this rambling. I live in northern michigan and winters are brutal. (which makes having little metal better because michigan winters can rust out a car in no time) This car has traction control, so does anybody know if this car is any good in the snow? the tires are all weather snow tires, so it has good tires but i'm wondering how these cars do in the snow?

I have a 94 sl2. This winter we had some bad days with ice and snow on the roads. The traction control and ABS worked nice in my opinion. Only problem is if you get stuck in the snow you need to turn off traction control to get out. Just don't rock the car back and forth from drive to reverse. People keep saying you can easily break the transmission doing this.

I No Joke had a snow shovel in my trunk. A few times I had to shovel the snow out from under my tires and have someone push me while I hit the gas with no traction control on.

You can break the diff pin by spinning the tires a bunch too, especially if you suddenly catch clean pavement.
