Default Hey from Baton Rouge

Hey everyone, name's Joe.

From Baton Rouge, and I don't own a saturn yet, but I found one I am considering buying. 1997 SC2. Posted a thread in the S series forum asking for some advice/hints, if anyone knows much about the S series any help in there would be nice

hey buddy, welcome! the 97's were a great year, but look for something in the lower miles (for that year, 80K and below). one you find a car or two you like, put up it's condition or pictures if you can and we'll help you out

i agree w/ goldie, the 97 is a great car. your better off than me tho, when i got mine a few years ago, it had 89k. i wasnt exactly the best driver, and didnt understand that saturns drink oil. if you get it, check your oil, and have fun. these cars are great little cars and can be fun!

5 speed, body is decent...front bumper cracked, hood has some rock dings, spoiler is faded...Otherwise, its in decent condition. Dark green btw.

Interior is in decent condition...Seats are all good, black leather. Only thing wrong in the inside is the visors are in crappy shape, a few trim pieces are loose, and the passenger side kick panel on the middle console is gone. Electronic wise, the sunroof doesn't open *you can hear the motor running, I read a write up on it in the S forum so maybe thats it..* Passenger window doesn't roll down, don't hear anything from the motor...So, I read another write up, and I will do that before I swap the motor lol. A/C doesn't work, it blows but its not cold whatsoever....Sucks, considering I live in south louisiana, and its black leather interior

Otherwise, it runs pretty nicely. Not really having problems going into gears, but when you go to put it into either 1st/2nd, or 5th/rev, the far sides, its not very easy to go all the way to the side.

Most likely has a leaking valve cover gasket. I looked at it, and didn't see anything, then drove it 10 minutes down the road. Got to the house, and it was smoking..Not considerably, just noticeably. Looked, and there was oil on the tranny and on the sides of the block. Ate a sandwich and drove back to the place, and it wasn't smoking...but there was still oil. That shouldn't be too big of a deal though.

Other than that, its decent. Quick question, the SC2 is the twin cam, wheres the SC1 is the single cam...Am I correct in that? Lol, I am used to engine codes for a nissan....Prior ka24de 240sx owner.
