Default New guy from Savannah, Ga

Hey guys/gals, I am just checking in here. I work as an Engineer at Gulfstream Aerospace, still going to school at Embry Riddle and I have recently bought a 93 SC2 2 door, red, 5 speed with the twin cam 1.9 motor. I bought it for my work/beater car because I have a 2000 Trans AM WS-6 that I would like to keep the miles off and I run Nitto drags on the back (305/35/18 ) that just kill my wallet, let alone the regular things like brakes, rotors that I wear out on it from track days. I found the saturn at a good price and the insurrance is rediculous its so cheap. I always join a forum to figure things out becuase things are going to break and forums are the best source of info I don't plan on making the saturn fast ever but things are going to break eventually. So anyways I wanted to say hey and introduce myself.

I dont have any pictures of my saturn yet but its nothing special really, like i said above its red with tan interior with a sunroof that doesnt work and a drivers side window that has a stripped section on the regulator so it goes almost all the way up but I have to push it the rest of the way..on the to do list...

My Trans Am is a 2000 with the WS-6 package, Sebring Silver 6 speed
Exhaust: Race style Long Tube 1 3/4 headers, no cats, QTP electric cutout with the digital controller, Flowmaster (or I call it slowmaster) catback
Suspension: Eibach pro-kit springs, Bilstein shocks revalved for the lowering springs, Hotchkis LCA's, Hotchkis adj. panhard rod, Spohn relocation brackets for LCA's, Spohn tq arm with driveshaft safety loop, and SLP double diamond subframe connectors
Engine: Lingenfelter/Weiand LS6 polished intake, air lid, SLP MAF sensor, dyno tuned (thats it for now)
Tires: front-Fusion 265/35/18, back-Nitto 555R 305/35/18
Spec 2 clutch
367.3 rwhp/354.7rwtq

I have a set of 5.3 heads that were CNC p&p by TEA and a comp cam (224/230, .581/.588 on a 114 LSA) that I am going to install once I get the money to forge my internals. I also am taking it this weekend to get a set of 3.73 mosier gears in and pray my 10 bolt hold together for a little while because the 9" rears are kinda pricey. I'll post of a couple pics of the TA but I dont have any of my saturn.

Welcome to the family, Platinum

Great to have you here and I am sure there will be plenty of people who can help you out. The TransAm looks very very nice, certainly alot more stylish than the one I used to throw up the dragstrips over here in the UK. I didn't have anything to do with the engine etc on mine though, that was down to the pit team.....I just flung it up the tarmac a few times each weekend

Thanks A.J., So that was a 78? You might be some help for me then......my father and I are restoring an 80' Trans AM right now. I just built the motor and the body is pulled apart being painted right now. What kind of suspension are you running?

Mine was purely for NHRA, not road legal. I raced from 1980 thru 89, and from memory I am pretty sure the cars had Bilstein suspension. Like I said, I didn't interfere with the mechanicals, as far as I was concerned, it was a case of I drove it and the others fixed it

My day job was driving articulated lorries (18 wheelers). I was one of the few females to do the job back in the 80's. Great life, fantastic people to work with. Granted there were the occasional chauvenistic fool, but I usually got my revenge on them

The two people who I drove with in NHRA were the late Alan 'Boots' Herridge and Sylvia Hauser (former Women's World Funny Car Champion). Santa Pod in Northamptonshire, UK was my home dragstrip.

The times are alot quicker nowadays, but 20 years ago, 7 second standing quarter was pretty decent
