Default New member, old saturn

Well as my subject says i am a new member i have a 1997 saturn SC1 that i have been running into the ground, i am looking at building it up to race in the local SCCA races here in Sierra Vista, AZ.

welcome to the spot. tires tires and tires. most important thing for autox. also, make sure you know what class you want to be and then modify according to that

yeah, i was jsut gonna start with new tires, brakes and probably throw a cold air intake in for now and see what that does.

lol a 97 isn't old, we have some first gen's on here from like 91-92, that's pretty old..

Yup - '97 is the first year of the 2nd gen coupes. As sc2racer pointed out, if you're wanting to autocross (or really any kind of racing), you'll want to figure out what kind of class you want to be in. I'm going to be doing well just to have my project car in good running condition by the time racing starts, so I'm aiming for h-stock class, basically no modifcations. Knowing that keeps me from putting my cold air intake on, because that would put me in a different class up against people with a lot more done to their cars than mine will have in time...

i agree with that, but the way i have driven my car the past 5 years has been out of control.
