Default compartment air filter?


does anyone change their own compartment air filter? if so is it easy or hard? im thinking about saving some money and see if its worth doing myself. dealer charges about 70 bucks for it. its a 2004 ion qc, thanks.

It is above behind the glove box. If I recall correctly the owners manual says how to change it.
Basicly pry out the stop tabs on the glove box to let it flip down all the way, dumping out the contents. Looking up in there you will see a small long door wityh a locking tab. Open up the tab. The filter is behind it. Slide the filter out noting the arrows for air flow direction. Now swear and curse to install the new one past the tab without damaging the new filter. Reinstall the other removed parts.

Most auto parts stores DON'T keep a Saturn Ion cabin filter in stock. Give your local parts store a call, and ask them to send one from the warehouse, just in case.

thanks, its too hot here in cali to work on it anyways. and i saw the filters on ebay for around 20 bucks. now i gotta worry about that stupid plastic molding on the door panel, its about to fall off. Looks like the tab on top broke. thanks for all the help, thats why i like this forum.

rockauto has the filter in stock, google for a 5 percent discount from their price.
