Default Header

I'm interested in purchasing the pace setter header for my ion but it says that it will not work if you have an EGR Valve. I found out what an EGR Valve is but I couldn't find out if my Ion has it or not. I have a 2005 Ion 1, its the bottom of the line basic model. Does anybody know if my model has an EGR Valve or how I can find out?

Thanks!

you don't have one.

actually, I think what their referring to is an AIR setup that some of the 3rd gen s-series have, which injects air into the stock exhaust manifold. the EGR bolts to passages built into the head. I believe it would be on the right side and has a black plate bolted over where it would be, but I think in 05 they changed the 2.2 heads so they did not have this provision any longer.

if you're getting the pacesetter unit, spring for the armorcoat one, or get the painted one ceramic coated. you want to increase the durability of that part since it's going to be enduring a lot of heat and is not the best of materials.
