Default Just dosen't make any sense

Ok I posted my problem about 2 weeks ago, with a rattle up front, on my wifes 04 Ion, which I was told it might the sway bar link, but what puzzles me is when it gets kinda warm 55+ the rattle tends to quiet down, and it's not as noticeable.

I ain't got that much hair left, this is driving me crazy. Any other suggestions? Keep in mind I haven't yet checked the sway bar link bushings.

Possible sources.

Sway bar to strut links.
Sway bar to frame bushings.
Lower control arm rear bushings slipped out of place and hitting the frame. The control arm should be sitting above the frame.

In your original post you didn't mention that it happens at lower temps. If the noise is actually more of a squeaking, scrunching, metal on rubber type of noise then it is more than likely from the front sway bar to frame bushings. They tend to make noise more at lower (sub freezing) temps.

How big of a job is it to replace the strut bushings? Should I go ahead and replace the struts too, the sway bars are tight, so I don't think its the sway bar links, we had it up on the rack but still failed to actually find the rattle,I was told it could be the strut mounting bushing, does this sound like maybe on the right track?
